Evolving an icon
Since its debut in 2009, CDesign has set a benchmark in quality, robust craftsmanship, and refined elegance. Sixteen years on, its original design ethos remains central to the evolving range. Designed by Carr for Omvivo, the latest release introduces a freestanding bath that builds on the iconic solid surface basin collection, celebrating minimalism and clarity in function.
The technology of trust
What exactly does a BIM Manager do? BIM, short for Building Information Modelling, broadly covers documentation standards and Revit functionality.
The craft of architecture
Associate Kenneth Wong champions architecture as a call to action, driven by critical thinking and curiosity to spark positive change in communities. It is the “omnipresence of design”, as Kenneth describes, along with time-honed skills shaped by experience, that evokes an emotional response from the end-user, while also advocating the values and preoccupations of the designer.
A matter of materials
Working within a rich envelope, Carr’s interior design approach for Hardie Grant’s new workplace minimises intervention and amplifies the vibrant character of both the client and the building. Associate Ashleigh Ward guides us through Carr’s design process, explaining why the base building was treated more as a backdrop than a competitor, allowing the timber structure, views, and the client’s identity to take the lead.
Crafting a sense of place
An Associate Director at Carr brings dual-discipline expertise as both an architect and a qualified interior designer. This balanced perspective informs each project, ensuring a considered and cohesive outcome. With a rigorous and thoughtful approach, their work specialises in high-end residential, multi-residential, and hospitality design. Their philosophy aligns with Carr’s values: contemporary and restrained, with an emphasis on delivering a high-quality service.
The strategy behind a custom fit
Recently leading the design and completion of Hardie Grant’s new workplace in Collingwood, Associate Director Catherine Keys reflects on how a tailored design approach, early collaboration, and strategic thinking brought the media company’s next chapter to life.
Balancing form with feel
Set against the leafy backdrop of South Yarra, Como Terraces is a striking example of how multi-residential living can still feel deeply connected to its surroundings. Tasked with creating ‘something different’, Carr embraced the site’s dramatic topography and rich context to deliver a project that balances bold design with a strong sense of place.
